From September 18, 2016:
First Danny at Dream Big Dream Often and then Anne Mehrling recently posed the question, “Do you have a favorite season?”
I wonder what makes any one season favored about the others. I enjoy them all!
Variety enhances life, especially seasonally. I thrive in climates with four distinctive, equal seasons. Early signs of the approaching season exhilarates me, but I don’t really have a favorite. I love bundling up to take in the silence of snowfall in winter, the invigorating, color displays and refreshing air in spring and autumn and warm, balmy summers delight me. But I especially like change when the current weather becomes tedious.
Following are photos from our recent visit around Glenwood Springs, Basalt and Carbondale, before autumn falls 😉
“For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.
Christ our God, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.”
Folliot S. Pierpoint,in Lyra Eucharistica, by Orby Shipley, second edition, 1864

I don’t have a favorite either, it’s more the changes I enjoy. In Phoenix the changes were there, but far too subtle. It required A LOT of imagination! 😀
This year I’m anticipating the real deal. Very excited! 🍂

Thank you for including my blog! I didn’t expect that. That’s wonderful that you like all seasons and can find beauty and peace in all four.

I need to adopt your attitude, Roos. Every summer, I think I like winter better and then vice versa. I need to look at the wonderful parts that aren’t about temperature!

Wow, what a great post. To view your photos of the old machinery is just great. We Praise the beauty of the Earth and in an instant, we find ourselves lost. That is such a great place to be. Thank you for Sharing. John

My favorite season is summer followed by autumn and spring. I enjoy summer because I like going to the beach. Sun, sand, sea and surf.
I hate winter because I always get sick. My skin cracks, peels and flakes off. Last winter I actually lost some of my hair. My entire body has an adverse reaction to snow, ice and cold. Plus winters in New York city are brutal. One could easily get hurt slipping on icy stairs and sidewalks. Even the transit system comes to a halt. I don’t drive but people have been found frozen to death in their cars and their homes.
Last November the temperature dropped to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. No heat. I had to sleep in all my clothes including my coat. My cat Sylvester cried because he was freezing. Winter signals death with December being the worst month.
